I have been away for a little while, mainly due to a long writing block, and a little to do with just not being in the blogging spirit. To those who have stuck around, thank you. I've had a little new year's clean up and deleted some old posts that I felt didn't really tally with the blog that I wanted this to be. Hoping this year to keep it simply about style, photography, art and travel. How was everyone's New Year's? I spent it at home with loved ones, playing games and having long discussions into the early hours of the New Year morning. I missed my friends who were out on the town, but I knew home was where I wanted to spend it this time round. It's come to that time of year again - my birthday. I don't know if it's usual for people my age to start to dread their birthdays but I think it's already started for me. I'm turning twenty-three in just over a week, and I feel like I haven't achieved half the things I had hoped when I turned eighteen. Well, let's hope I have achieved some of the things by the time my twenty-fifth year comes around. Here's to wishing!

This year I will be spending my birthday in Paris, thanks to a lovely surprise from my parents. I'm heading straight to the Laudree Cafe to munch on macaroons, and then maybe head to the Louvre and then the Eiffel Tower, depending on the weather. The following evening, I'm going out with my closest friends for a karaoke session and drinks in Soho. I have been planning my outfit for awhile now, call me sad. I have taken to Moschino's 2012 Resort line for some inspiration. I've fallen in love with their tutu skirts and structured French boucle jackets. In fact, the real inspiration came after Christmas when I watched the last two episodes of Sex & The City, when Carrie is in Paris with her "Russian". She wears this mint tulle bodice dress and looks gorgeous running through the city. Now, if it's good enough for Carrie, it's good enough for me. I just need the perfect pair of heels - and my own Big of course!

Light pink hair looks so babydoll cute on the model, not sure how much I would like it on me..but it's a dream. I become too bored with my hair colour, but I can imagine these colours would take some serious maintenance I've thought of dying my hair in the ombre style, but think it looks nicer on brunettes than black hair. Have you ever dyed your hair a crazy colour??

I'm a single lady so won't be spending it with a chiselled, tall, dark and handsome Adonis but shall spend the majority of the day doing some editing work and revision for my microbiology tests on Wednesday..romantic, I know! Luckily, my Pops gave me some money to treat myself to something nice. Although it's a day meant for lovers - I like to take this day to tell everyone I love, that I love them and I appreciate them.

Hope you all have a lovely day with loved ones, and single ladies...pamper yourselves, you deserve it too!

I'm a big fan of wearing glasses, in fact I routinely forget I wear an extra two windows on my face, until someone kindly points it out or asks me to try on my frames. Now, out of my group of girlfriends I'm the only one who prefers to wear my glasses all day and on all occassions. For some reason, contact lenses suit everyone but me..I just have that "glasses" face, I guess. So this post may be a little bias as a spectacle wearer, but I have only just begun to notice how handsome some guys look wearing glasses. Granted, just like us gorgeous girlies, not everyone can pull them off..but these guys are a prime example of just how classy and chic the right frames can look.

and there obviously, couldn't be a post about gorgeous men wearing glasses without Mr. R. Gosling.....

Enough said!

Welcome to December, it appears we have nearly made it through this year..thank God! I'm glad it's nearly over, can't wait for the new year and all the good things it will hopefully bring. As usual college is taking up my life during the week so here I am on a chilly Sunday afternoon. I just want to say a hello and a thank you to my new followers, I am slowly checking your blogs out and following back. There's two weeks left til Christmas! I really can't wait, I have even started watching my favourite Christmas films - Love Actually and Home Alone. What are your favourite Yuletide films?

Selfridges Christmas display.

I love central London at Christmas, especially going to the big department stores like Harrods, John Lewis and Selfridges. I highly recommend an afternoon out to see the lights and decorations.

I am currently having a style crush on Drew Barrymore. She has nailed that boho/grunge style with her feather cape, the bullet belt. I love how these pieces can be worn day or night, with a simple swap from biker boots to a pair of high heels. This whole look has transformed Drew, she doesn't look a day over 30! I salute you Ms Barrymore.

I'm trying oh so hard to save up for all these items. I would do just about anything to get these Topshop wedges! How was everyone's weekend? I spent my Saturday mostly chilling with the family, and even treated them to a cooked dinner a la moi! I cooked duck a l'orange and Mum made an amazing banana cake/trifle/tart thing that I had to have a slice of, even though I promised myself I would be good. I love bananas LOL. On Sunday I bought some chelsea boots and a few things from H&M. I'm not 100% sure about the boots now but Autumn's here and I can't keep wearing my gladiator sandals as much as I'd love to.

In case you weren't aware (my URL name gives it away), I'm a huge fan of Carrie Bradshaw. I fell even more in love with her when she stayed with her boyfriend the "Russian" in the last few episodes of SATC. So of course, when my Dad asked if I would like to accompany him on a short trip to the city of Chic (yes, it deserves a capital letter), how could I not say yes?!
This wasn't my first time in Paris, I had been previously a few times when I was still in high school. But it really felt like I was experiencing it for the first time. As an adult I could appreciate the city for all it had to offer.

It was, however, my first time on the Eurostar and like the nerd that I am, love LOVE train journeys so this was an added bonus.The best part of the trip was going up the Eiffel Tower at midnight, the whole tower lights up and sparkles, on the hour for five minutes. It's a bit of a epileptic's nightmare but from the ground it really looks beautiful.
Beautiful people, beautiful food, beautiful wine all in a beautiful city.

Rouge Lips

Have never really liked red lipstick on me for some reason, I think I just love my pink lipsticks too much. I'm slowly trying to wean myself off them, onto the more sophisticated choice of rouge. In this photo I'm wearing a fuchsia lipstick with red lipgloss over it..next jump is to actually buy a red lipstick, wish me luck! lol.

Pink Hair && Purple Lips

I am loving my pink fringe! The photo's make it look more red-ish than it is but in natural light it is near to being neon! =] I would love to dye the whole thing pink, but I'm not sure yet just because it's so high maintenance! I used La Riche Directions Hair Dye in Flamingo Pink - £5.60 for 2 pots on Ebay.

They do the most vibrant colours, so if that's what you're into I really recommend it.

I love purple lipstick at the moment. I don't know if it contrasts so perfectly with my hair, or what but I've only dared to wear it outside twice. I used an unused thin paint brush to apply the Kryolan paint onto my lips. I think once I get some confidence I'll venture to MAC or Illamasqua to find a darker shade.

At the moment for make up, I'm being inspired by the baroque movement (18th century). Think pale pastels, flowers, femininity, pinks, frills, elegance and texture. Or watch Marie Antoinette and The Duchess for some inspiration.
